Here you can see our member Colleen Fennell at one of her volunteer times at the Teaching Garden.

The Shuswap Community Teaching Garden is located on an acre of land within the City of Salmon Arm. The garden is open to all members of the community and is intended to teach, engage, and encourage the growing of fresh food.

The produce will get sent to both Second Harvest Food Bank plus the Safe Society. Colleen was asked to be on the “board” for this garden (as she volunteered there last year). Volunteers are welcome to pick some produce for their own use. So Colleen requested a designated space that would let individuals that may not have a large enough space to grow their own garden.  She was allocated some garden space for a Syrian Refugee family she met last year - Haba & Ayman.
