Our guest speaker on Monday 12 April was Joran Kuijper, the club's 2005-6 inbound Youth Exchange student form the Netherlands.  Joran was delighted to be able to see and speak to his host parents.  He  reviewed (in pictures) the highlights of his stay in Salmon Arm  and updated us on his life since returning home.  Joran is now living in Amsterdam and works as a university lecturer and researcher in architecture.

In his talk he touched on many aspects of life that he learned about while in  Salmon Arm.  For example, he still hikes, thanks to Leslie & John Wilson.

He learned about the Roberts’ Therapy wines, and enjoyed driving the Hirtles' boat!  A trip to Dawson City with Rick Hirtle was pivotal for  him.
His SAS high school year included music, and he still sings in several choirs as a result of that experience. He said, ‘the world opened up for me in that year’.
