Our guest speaker on February 25 was Vilas Prabhu of the Sumerland Rotary Club.  He described a Global Grant project initiated by Summerland Rotary club, whose objective is to make the dilapitated Miraj High School  in India  safe and operational again and provide for sustainable clean water, sanitation  and iproved education.  The Miraj School has about 1200 students and caters to the needs of the very poor in the community.

The Summerland club has done all the required preparation for the grant, has applied, and needs the final approximately $3500 USD to proceed. He was introduced by Cole Graf and thanked by Maureen McTavish after responding to several questions.

At the March 4 meeting, the club unanimously endorsed a grant of $3000US to support the project.  Our club's contribution means that the grant can now go forward.
