Elly Contreras, Canadian Intermediary for Project Amigo Canada Society, here flanked by husband Ramiro and club International Chairman Coleman Graf, gave a heartwarming and informative talk to the club on Monday, August 29.

She described our involvement in Project Amigo as a sponsor of the education of 3 students as well as outlining the operation  and goals of the Project Amigo project, whose program transforms lives through education by helping students, their families and their communities. The students have a strong ethic to help their families and communities, and the best way to break the cycle of poverty is through education.  The Project Amigo program boasts a 92% completion rate  for high school, and over 100 students have become university graduates.  Sponsors and visitors are welcome to participate in Volunteer Weeks to experience the schools' communities and lifestyles.

At the end of her presentation, President Garry presented Elly with a cheque to Project Amigo to cover the costs of sending three students to school for the upcoming year. This is our club's commitment to this project.
