Ray Thompson gave an eloquent description of his three-year experience as a double lung transplant recipient after his diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. This included two attempts where he was prepped for surgery then told to go home the first time as the donor lungs were not OK.  He had several post-surgical complications, spending months in Vancouver in an out of hospital. He thanked the many individuals and organizations that helped him and his wife Kathy along the journey.

Ray and Kathy owned the UPS store in Salmon Arm, so they are well-known in our community.  Ray now spends some of his time volunteering for transplant services in British Columbia.
