Local Rotary Clubs matching up to $46,000 in donations to the Shuswap Community Foundation (SCF) Emergency Response Fund to support wildfire recovery efforts.

[Salmon Arm, November 8, 2023] - In an incredible show of support and solidarity, the Chase and three Salmon Arm Rotary Clubs have made a generous donation of $46,000 to the Shuswap Community Foundation (SCF). This substantial contribution is earmarked for matching donations to the Emergency Response Fund, an initiative aimed at facilitating the recovery and rebuilding of the North Shuswap communities ravaged by this year's devastating wildfires.

The wildfires that swept through North Shuswap communities this year left a profound impact, affecting homes, businesses, and lives of countless individuals and families. In response to this crisis, the Shuswap Community Foundation established the Emergency Response Fund (ERF) to provide support for the recovery and rebuilding of affected communities.

The local Rotary Clubs' extraordinary donation will serve as a matching fund, doubling the impact of individual contributions made to the Emergency Response Fund. This means that for every dollar donated by community members, the Rotary Clubs will match it, effectively doubling the resources available to support relief and recovery efforts in the North Shuswap.

"This generous donation from the four local Rotary Clubs  is a testament to the remarkable spirit of community and unity that defines the Shuswap region," said Roger Parenteau, Executive Director at the Shuswap Community Foundation. "It will significantly bolster our efforts to aid those affected by the wildfires, helping them rebuild their lives and businesses."

Our local Rotary clubs have long been champions of local causes and initiatives, and their commitment to assisting in times of crisis is both admirable and impactful.

The Shuswap Community Foundation would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Rotary clubs for their substantial contribution, as well as to the community members who have already contributed to the Emergency Response Fund. Your support is vital in helping the North Shuswap communities on their path to recovery.

Individuals and organizations interested in contributing to the Emergency Response Fund are encouraged to visit the Shuswap Community Foundation's website shuswapfoundation.ca for more information or donate directly to the Fund at any SASCU location.   Donate today to take advantage of this incredible matching opportunity.
