Rotary is renewing the garden and patio areas at Bastion Place.

This project opportunity came to the attention of our club a few months ago when a visitor to Bastion Place noticed the poor condition of the garden/patio area outside of the Dementia Ward where her mother resided. Upon further inquiry she learned that there was not sufficient funding within Interior Health's budget to support the maintenance of, or replace worn out furniture in, the garden/patio area. This lady received encouragement from Bastion Place staff to investigate possibilities of local funding support to restore the gardens to some functional form. After lots of research, she requested help from Rotary.

Here is the first phase of the project.  Rotarians and Friends of Rotary came out to clean up the garden areas last week and remove truckloads of organic waste.

Watch our Facebook page and this website as things progress.  The new furniture will be installed soon.
