Club member Kimberly Rees spoke to the attending members about the Shuswap Music Festival, a yearly event, sponsored jointly by the Shuswap Music Teachers' Association and the Rotary Club of Salmon Arm.
Started in 2001, the festival has been running for 20 years, some years with up to 700 amateur musicians. Adjudicators are professional , and positive results can send participants on to provincial festivals. Twenty-eight scholarships are awarded to further the students' musical careers. In 2020, the festival went virtual with 178 entries, and the 2021 Festival will also be virtual. More information can be found at www.shuswapfestival.com
