Mikayla Wilkinson gave a wonderful presentation on her participation in the Girls on Ice Canada program two week trip on the Illecillewaet Glacier up at Rogers Pass.  Two other expeditions were also run by this organization, one in the Kootenays and one in the Yukon. She was chosen to attend this international program with an art and science focus for girls after a rigorous application process. Ten girls and 4 leaders had ‘front country’ education at the base camp near Hwy 1, then on the the glacier camp and finally finally several days at the Bio-Geo Institute of U Calgary. An adjustment with no contact with family or the outside world and no phones! Instructors were qualified in glaciation, climbing, botany, art, and the girls were all doing science projects as well as helping with group chores. This was an incredible opportunity and obviously Mikayla loved every minute!
