At the Jan 23 meeting, Brad Shirley, Salmon Arm's Fire Chief, told the club about the Salmon Arm Fire Department. His talk included his personal history with the department as a third generation fireman in Salmon Arm , the history of the department, its equipment and personnel . He also explained the funding and how callouts work through the Surry Dispatch unit. He emphasized how fire behaviour has changed due to new, lighter construction materials. Finally he encouraged everyone to have an escape plan and advised the best place to keep important documents is in the freezer. Brad is shown here with Nancy Cooper, who thanked him on the club's behalf.
